Frame It.

It looks like things are really starting to move forward with the next Riddick movie titled RIDDICK and starring Vin Diesel. I know that things are moving forward because someone drew a picture and Vin put it up on his facebook page. Here’s the pic to save you some clicking.

That must be the planet sandatoria.

That must be the planet sandatoria.

Mr. Diesel describes it as a “2D Motion Choreography Study,” which I’m guessing is fancy talk for “a picture.” Either way, it’s pretty cool looking and that monster thing looks menacing. Nice job art guy.

Riddick Rolls.

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Boy, it seems like only March 13, 2009 that we last heard one Vincent Diesel talking about a possible third installment of the Riddick movie franchise. Now, instead of Vin simply talking to anyone who would listen (and everyone else too…except me…) we have confirmation from a studio that they are willing to give David Twohy actual currency to get this film made. You may read the confirmation mentioned in the previous sentence at this Variety link.

The best news coming out of this is that the new movie will be more like PITCH BLACK, which was good, instead of CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, which was bad. As I’ve said before, I really like the Riddick character, so sticking with a smaller movie that emphasizes why he’s cool instead of trying to force coolness upon him by making up crap about him being the last of a stupidly named race and being destined to kill a guy in lame armor is a great idea.

What The World Needs Now Is Furiousness.

If you’re a male between the ages of 16 and 25, you’ll probably drop your mp3 player after hearing that there are two more FAST AND FURIOUS movies in the works. This comes straight from Vin Diesel himself over at Facebook, or someone impersonating him and not bothering to edit their postings.

I’m not a big fan of the FURIOUS movies because I’m not much of a car guy, but at least they keep the kids off the street for an hour or two so they’re not out robbing convenience stores or pushing old ladies over, so I guess they have their merits.

Call In The Wheelman.

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I don’t know if the video-game THE WHEELMAN is any good, but I do know that movies based on video-games are not good. With that information in mind, it is with a heavy-heart that I inform you that an adaptation of the previously mentioned THE WHEELMAN is in the works…so says Variety. Vin Diesel will play “the man who wheels” under the direction of John Singleton.

The game was apparently about a retired expert driver who comes out of retirement (expert drivers never stay retired; I don’t know why they even bother) to protect some lady he used to know and probably had relations with. Vin Diesel produced, loaned his likeness too and voiced the main character in the game. My guess is that this game was really just an extended trailer for the movie; kinda like when networks order a full pilot of a new show before they green-light an entire season.
