She Can’t Take Much More!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

For days now, the internet has been crying for; nay, demanding more video footage from the upcoming film titled KICK-ASS. And from upon high, descends the following R-rated trailer. Enjoy it if you are of age.

This is the third trailer/clip from this movie that I have posted which I feel is more than enough for any one movie, especially one that I’m not really looking forward too. So…yeah, that’s that.

I should be fair though; this was definitely the best trailer yet for this movie, especially the beginning. It wasn’t trying to be overly jokey and seemed to take itself at-least a little seriously, but (there’s always a “but”) then the second half kicks-in and it all falls apart. As soon as Hit-Girl appears, we’re assaulted with gimmicky and non-sensical action that tears down all my good feelings. Thanks a lot trailer, I didn’t want those good feelings anyway. I guess I’ll replace them with potato chips; like usual.

Gun-Fu.

Promotional material for the upcoming comic-book movie KICK-ASS continues to descend upon the internet. The latest features a little girl who uses guns and something I like to call “magic-fu” to kill men three times her size. It also features Nic Cage…enjoy it below.

I think by now my feelings regarding this movie are clear. I’ve just never been a fan of movies featuring small children with no powers of any kind beating up adults who outweigh them by 200 pounds. Perhaps this movie will surprise me and not stink, but we’ll just have to wait and see. At least there’s Nic Cage to look forward too.

As is the normal operating procedure in Hollywood, a movie that will be released soon has a poster to showcase the fact that it exists. That movie is KICK-ASS, the super-hero movie about children beating up adults. The poster in question is below.

And now I'm off to the free-verse poetry slam.

I’ve been hearing a lot of people getting really psyched for this movie, but I just can’t raise my interest level. Everything that comes out just seems stupid. Perhaps the stupidness is supposed to be there, like it’s trying to be ironic or funny ala BLANKMAN, but I’ve never been a fan of “wink wink” super-hero stuff.

Take the above image for example. The kid looks like a toolbox. Now perhaps his character is meant to be really lame, but if he ends up actually kicking anyone’s ass I cry foul. And for crying out loud, pull up your damn belt. If you’re going to be a super-hero you can’t let your baby fat push your buckle down to crotch level. Read the handbook, it’s in there.

Boot Buttocks.

A film was made not too long ago by Matthew Vaughn, about a kid who decides to be a super-hero just because. It’s based on a comic book by Mark Millar titled KICK-ASS and it has spawned a trailer. You may view it below.

Now, I’ve never read the comic book so I can’t comment about it, but I did view the trailer and can say that it looks dumb. It lost me right from the start where the dude jumped off the building and people were clapping…if you’re trying to make me believe that your movie is happening in a “real world” type setting you have to have people behave believably. If someone sees someone jump off of a forty story building they are not going to clap, they are going to run around screaming and some will probably be staring in horror or taking pictures with their cell phones.

You also can’t tell me that there aren’t any super powers in your world and tell me that a little girl who is obviously not in that great of shape can beat up a room full of grown men with weapons.

So, in conclusion, I’m not very impressed. There has to be someone out there that cares.
