The Reboot Monster is now drooling over the 20 year-old carcass of THE ROCKETEER, so says Vulture. At least this body has cooled a little bit.
For those who aren’t in-the-know, THE ROCKETEER was directed by Joe Johnston and starred Billy Campbell as a pilot in the 1930′s who stumbled onto an experimental rocket-pack that allowed him to fly and fight Nazis. I also remember a lot of car chases…
Anyway, I know a lot of people seem to really love THE ROCKETEER, but I’m not one of them. I remember watching it as a kid and just getting pissed-off that the hero barely ever actually used the jet pack. I think I remember him actually being The Rocketeer maybe twice?
So, yeah, I don’t mind this being remade as I think they can make a much better movie this time around. And if they waste this premise again, well, at least it wasn’t my money.
