I hadn’t mentioned the upcoming Wachowski adaptation of the David Mitchell novel, CLOUD ATLAS, before because I honestly wasn’t sure if it was an action movie. I mean, check out this plot synopsis and tell me it screams ACTION to you…you can’t!
A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan’s California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified “dinery server” on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization — the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other’s echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small.
But now I’m not so sure, as a new trailer for it has appeared online and it showed a car crash and futuristic planes shooting futuristic guns at a futuristic highway. That’s ACTION, right? It has to be! If it’s not then my entire life has been a lie!

That sure does look pretty, but I’m not sure how much I trust the Wachowski’s to write a coherent movie anymore. Sure, we all like THE MATRIX, but that was forever ago. What have you done for me lately Wachowski’s?! Oh yeah, SPEED RACER…thanks a lot.
