If you thought that only the U.S. was under attack from the dreaded Remake Scourge; think again! The news coming out of Variety is that UNFORGIVEN is up to be remade by Warner Japan as a Samurai movie with Ken Watanabe starring. It’s official title is YURUSAREZARU MONO, which means unforgiven, and it’ll be directed by Lee Sang-il.
Look, you know me. I HATE remakes; especially when they’re of classic films, but damned if this doesn’t sound like it’ll be pretty awesome. DAMN THEM!
Maybe it’s the universal nature of the story or the fact that Westerns and Samurai movies have been ripping each other off for a century now, but I can’t help but want to see this.
