Anyway, there have been some rumors of a new MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE movie for a while now, but it never seemed to gain much traction. That might be changing now as Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures is trying to get Jon M. Chu to direct their live-action take from a script written by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch.
If you’re wondering what Jon Chu has ever directed that would make Sony think he has what it takes to not destroy Chris’s childhood; his previous directing duties were on JUSTIN BEIBER: NEVER SAY NEVER and the as-yet-unseen G.I. JOE: RETALIATION…NOOOOOOO!
If you don’t know what He-Man is about, there’s this pretty buff Prince on some distant planet who has a magic sword that turns him into an even-more buff tan guy who beats up villains. When you’re a little boy it’s the stuff of legend.
Anyway, I hope this Chu guy doesn’t make a stinker of a movie. He-Man should be a pretty epic mix of sci-fi and fantasy if done right. The good news for him is that the bar isn’t set all that high thanks to…
