As I wrote yesterday, Matthew Vaughn dropped out as director of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST under mysterious circumstances. The speculation after the announcement was that Bryan Singer would step-up and direct the thing since he was familiar with the universe and he was there as a producer anyway.
We have since gotten confirmation from Deadline that the speculation was correct. Bryan Singer is the new director.
With such a quick decision having been reached, the studio is confident that they can still reach their July 18, 2014 release date.
Like I said before, this seems like a very natural choice to me since he’s been with this franchise since the beginning. We’ll see if he’s still got that magic mutant touch.
