Back in 1973, a movie named ENTER THE DRAGON was unleashed on an unsuspecting public. The film was little more than a starring vehicle for John Saxon, but for some reason it caught on with the kids. Maybe this had something to do with it…

Anyway, Latino Review is reporting that Kurt Sutter is writing a “noirish” remake of the above mentioned movie that is almost nothing like the movie mentioned above and will have a different name. AWAKEN THE DRAGON will be about an FBI agent who follows a rogue Shaolin monk into the world of illegal fight clubs. So instead of the main villain hosting a fighting tournament on his own private island which is also used as the base of operations for his illegal opium racket, the main villain in AWAKEN fights in bars for money. Also, our hero is no longer a Shaolin monk seeking revenge for the death of his sister and also looking to restore the good name of his temple, but is instead a guy receiving a paycheck from the U.S. government. And of course, the biggest difference is that this was the star of ENTER:
