Everything’s All Topsy-Turvy!

Now here’s an interesting little movie that I hadn’t heard of before. It’s called INVERTIGO and Heat Vision says that D.J. Caruso will more than likely be directing. The script was written by Ehren Kruger and Bradley Cramp.

INVERTIGO is about some long-lost NASA space probe that crash lands in New York City while under the influence of “dark energy;” otherwise known as science magic. This magical energy eventually goes bonkers and screws with the Earth’s gravity causing buildings to get ripped from the ground along with other shenanigans. You know what that means don’t you? Yeah, it’s up to the Office of Emergency Management to save the day by traveling into upside down Manhattan!

You know, when I first read the synopsis I was all like “that sounds pretty rad!” But now that I’m reading it with a little caffeine in me I’m like “what a load of stupid.” I’m cool with the whole dark energy thing, but what gets me is that if Earth’s gravity is already screwed up to the point where buildings are being tossed into space haven’t we already lost? There just doesn’t seem to be a way to come back from that unless it’s a really slow tossing or if it spreads slowly or something dumb like that.

Secondly, I think a city being flipped upside down is a little out of the Office of Emergency Management’s wheelhouse. What are they going to do to save the day in this instance? Are they going to send in bottled water and upside down trailers? Come on.

Anyway, this thing feels like another THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and no one wants that.
