It would appear that my “reporting” of the live-action AKIRA movies demise was a little premature. Collider is saying that two gentlemen named Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have been hired to write a new script. If the script doesn’t smell of onions, the movie could be seen in theaters in 2011.
I’m still fairly certain that this movie will be terrible simply because I don’t see it translating well to live-action, let alone moving the setting to the U.S. I really believe that it would be in humanities best interests to just let this movie die. Really, Hollywood; think about the children!
